PGY1 Community Pharmacy Residency at Albertsons/Idaho State University College of Pharmacy

Purpose Statement: To build upon the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) education in order to develop community-based pharmacist practitioners with diverse patient care, leadership, and education skills leading to advanced training opportunities including postgraduate year two (PGY2) residencies and professional certifications.

Program Description

Albertsons Pharmacy offers a 12-month clinical pharmacy residency with unique community and clinical program development experiences in both metropolitan and rural Idaho communities. With the residency affiliation with the ISU College of Pharmacy, the resident will have extensive teaching and interdisciplinary research opportunities along with pharmacy student mentoring, didactic teaching in pharmacy program, precepting APPE students, preparing for a board-certification exam, and obtaining a teaching certificate.  Collaboration with a local ambulatory care clinic allows for a longitudinal clinical pharmacy experience in general pharmacotherapy and other clinical opportunities related to 340B entities. Albertsons maintains a nationwide residency program that provides residents the distinct opportunity to work with other residents and stay informed on pharmacy-related issues at a national level.  Boise is located in the Treasure Valley area in Southwest Idaho, and is the home to the Albertsons Companies corporate headquarters and Idaho State University College of Pharmacy’s Meridian campus.  The Sawtooth and White Cloud Mountains, Salt Lake City, Sun Valley, and many outdoor adventures are located just a few hours away.
