Primary Purpose


This tenure-track faculty position will be expected to develop a competitive research program as part of the development of a new Center for Health Outcomes and Quality (CHOQ) in Idaho and in partnership with other faculty members at the College as well as external stakeholders. Our vision of the CHOQ is that it will work closely with those in the healthcare field who tackle quality and health outcomes problems on a daily basis. Partners may include, but are not limited to Health West, Pocatello Family Medicine Residency, and Bengal Pharmacy. The primary focus of the position is in research and scholarship (>50% time commitment) but will also participate in professional pharmacy, residency, fellowship, and graduate student education, and engage in college committees, student mentoring, and other collegial roles attendant to academic rank. Exact responsibilities in non-research areas will be evaluated at least annually with the department chair. The position will be located on the Pocatello campus.

Minimum Qualifications


Education:

An advanced degree with additional training is required for this position. Applicants can meet this requirement in one or more of the following ways:

  • Pharm.D. degree with a Master’s degree in Public Health or other Health Science Discipline
  • Pharm.D. degree and a fellowship in a Health Outcomes field
  • Ph.D in Health Outcomes or related field

Experience:

  • Evidence of high quality publications in respected journals.
  • Experience in quality improvement science, implementation and dissemination science, medication safety, comparative effectiveness research, health care economics, informatics, pharmacoepidemiology, or health services.

Preferred Qualifications

Clinical Assistant Professor, Pharmacy (8085)

Primary Purpose

This is a 12-month, non tenure-track or tenure track assistant professor faculty position in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Administrative Sciences.  The successful applicant will have didactic and experiential teaching responsibilities in the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum and coordinate and precept a post-graduate residency trainee.  The position also provides clinical support at Bengal Pharmacy and its affiliated clinics and is responsible for maintaining an active scholarship program.

Key Responsibilities

This position is critical to the success of departmental and college goals.  Its responsibilities include:
1.  Primary mentoring, precepting, and coordination of the Rural Community Pharmacy Residency program;
2. Coordination and teaching of courses in the PharmD curriculum;
3.  Supervision of Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experiences (IPPEs) and Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences (APPEs);
4.  Providing patient care and clinical support to providers at the ISU Health Center and other affiliated clinics;
5.  Support of continued expansion of Bengal Pharmacy operations in Pocatello with tele-pharmacy services (including innovative clinical services) and community outreach to Bengal Pharmacy and clinical sites as developed;

Minimum Qualifications

Position Summary:  Reviews, assesses, consults, prepares, and distributes biological and pharmaceutical products within the hospital from medication orders prescribed by an authorized healthcare provider. Directs, coordinates, and supervises purchase, receipt, storage, compounding, and dispensing of pharmaceuticals, maintains records of the transactions of the pharmacy as required by law and as necessary to maintain adequate control and accountability. Supervises all Pharmacy personnel. Sets department objectives, performance standards, performs employee evaluations and initiates appropriate personnel actions. Coordinates with other departments to provide maximum level of service to hospital patients and staff. Reports to the C.Q.O.


Qualifications, Education, Training, & Experience: Doctorate in Pharmacy or a Master’s Degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution with a minimum of 2 years hospital Pharmacy experience required. Hospital Pharmacy management preferred.


License/Registration: Current licensure as a Pharmacist in the state of Idaho or eligible for licensure within six months of hire. Population Served: Neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.


Physical Demands:

Lifting: Occasional lift to a maximum of 25 lbs. from floor to waist height from floor to waist and 12 lbs. to overhead height (2 x hr. up to 8 x day). No frequent lifts. Items lifted-IV bags and boxes.

Push/Pull: Minimal force required to push carts 100-200 feet.

Fine Motor: High degree of fine motor skill to mix medications, manipulate syringes, etc…

Location: Inside. Occasional exposure to wet and humidity through water and hand washing. Occasional exposure to noise caused by intermittent distractions from computer printer and telephones. In this position, you will ensure efficient, safe, and effective medication use in the Emergency Department, under the general supervision of the Director of Pharmacy Services. You will serve as a well-integrated member of the ED multidisciplinary team and actively participate in patient care decisions including; resuscitation, transitions of care, surveillance of medication orders, interviewing patients to reconcile medication questions, provide patient medication counseling; educating health care professionals on appropriate and safe medication use.
